1770s Farmstead

A recreated example of the small farms built by early European and American settlers in southwestern Pennsylvania in the late 18th century.

 

1830s Farmstead

The 1830s Farmstead typifies the permanent farms that were constructed in southwestern Pennsylvania in the late 18th and early 19th centuries as the frontier moved westwards.

 

1859 Covered Bridge

The Walter's Mill Covered Bridge is a rare surviving example of the covered bridges once found throughout southwestern Pennsylvania.

Large wooden cider presses such as this were once a common feature on Somerset County farms.

 

1860s Maple Sugar Camp

The Center's recreated sugar camp highlights the methods used for producing maple sugar and syrup from colonial times to the present.

 

Hoffman & Fluck Exhibit Halls

Open by request and for special events, the Hoffman and Fluck Exhibit Halls contain exhibits highlighting the many trades and technologies once found in the region and an extensive collection of agricultural implements dating from the early nineteenth century to the present day.
