Annual Meeting of the Membership for the Historical and Genealogical Society of Somerset County. Join us in welcoming Dr. Paul Douglas Newman and his program on Native inhabitants of southwestern Pennsylvania around the time of the American Revolution in the 250th Anniversary year.

Refreshments followed by a membership meeting to elect officers for the HGSSC Board of Directors.

Admission is FREE and open to the public, you do NOT need to be a Historical Society member to attend.

About the Speaker
Dr. Paul Douglas Newman is a Professor of History at the University of Pittsburgh at Johnstown, where he has taught courses about Early American History and Native American History for over 30 years. He has authored many books and scholarly articles on the history of Pennsylvania. He has been the recipient of several University of Pittsburgh and UPJ teaching awards. He was named the History Channel National History Teacher of the Year in 2008. He has participated in several projects at the Somerset Historical Center over the years and has delivered talks on the Whiskey Rebellion and the Poster Art of World War 2 for the Somerset Historical Center.
