Otto Rebuilds

Our most recent issue of the Laurel Messenger includes a reprinted story about Otto Oatsmut and his misadventures in rebuilding his house. The apocryphal story has had many versions told since the 19th Century, including in the song Why Paddys Not At Work Today, a favorite tune of our musicians at Mountain Craft Days.

The humorous tune recounts the injuries that Paddy (or Otto, in some cases) sustained while trying to move a quantity of bricks from the roof of the house to the ground.

**Due the copyright restrictions, the audio file of Edward Hritz singing Why Paddys Not At Work Today has been removed.** Versions can be easily found online at youtube.com.
